BOOT ON BATTLEFIELD

In the spring of 2012, a friend and I were walking the mountain battlefield at Hartmannswillerkopf on the Vosges Front in Southern Alsace. In the brush, he found this boot of a French WWI soldier lying here for a century. Did the soldier live or die? We will never know the story of the soldier who once wore this boot.
